Crystals and gemstones have become a fascinating and interesting subject for today’s different people of various walks. Whether these earthly gifts become a simple adornment or embellishment for one’s fashion week look or as the deeper center of attraction to healing aspects, they are the target of many other individuals’ skepticism, eyebrow-raising, and misrecognition of their use. While some wear them because of the entertaining and accessorizing effect they give to the wearer, others are focused on the fact that crystals and stones have astrological correspondences, chakra representations, color symbolism, and planetary influences. In fact, the more people that question the validity of the claim that they have natural healing properties, the more we see people utilizing and wearing them. As already stated, no matter the purpose of jazzing up a look or benefitting from their healing characteristics alike, there are numerous irrefutable positives to be enjoyed.

For many of us, the amulets carried or worn by different people – such as, the Catholic cross, rosary beads, pearl necklaces, unique healing jewelry, and many other ways to make vital use of these tiny specks of heavenly creation – have been familiar daily sightings in the streets, ultimately, causing more of us to take them for granted. This, in turn, has neutralized or lessened their respect and perceived value. However, what we actually are witness to in the presence of these energetically invaluable stones is beyond our meager imaginations. They are items that have been charmed, carried, worn, and passed down since time immemorial. De facto, both civilized and primitive individuals, cultures, and unique societies wear them for many occult reasons, including to drive away evil, heal, protect, to enhance spirituality, and, yes, to attract love.

The word amulet has the Latin origination of amoletum which means a defense medium or to avert evil. People use it because of the belief that it holds special powers to be used for protection against evil acts or entities like dark witches/witchcraft, ghosts, evil spirits, calamities, misfortune, illness, and other disasters/traumas. Also, amulets are believed to carry good fortune and luck that many people refer to them as talismans.

It is amazing to see that all the way from a primitive era in the distant past to the modern era with the varying cultures and sets of societies comprising it, humans still believe in the powers of amulets that specifically and supposedly derive their powers from connections made with religious associations including the occult, from rituals, and with more powerful natural forces. In those ancient days, you would find these amulets or talismans worn or carried, locked in an area desired to be endowed with the influence of their powers, and in religious ceremonies when the high priest wore a Choshen or breastplate, for example.

As mentioned, amulets come in various types and uses. But in the modern world, crystals and gemstones seem to have become more popular seeing the many collections and varieties of them in different sizes, shapes, types, colors, and variations. These crystals and gemstones have also gone into the hands of fashionable designers so they’ve been integrated into jewelry pieces like necklaces, pendants, bracelets, wands, and rings. Crystals and gemstones are also now found in zipper pulls, key chains, bag charms, key fobs, luxury cell phone cases, and in a lot of other gorgeously presented designs that have become not only a form of useful amulets, but fashionable representations as well. But a fact not to ignore, the magic of their healing properties still remains, giving many people this primary reason to wear them despite the nonbelievers in these beautiful, natural items’ efficacy. Remember, everything from Gaia is inherently pure and perfect in its own way.

Some of the most popular crystals and gemstones include amethyst, quartz of various colors, ruby, emerald, agate, tourmaline, opal, rose quartz, sodalite, goldstone, peridot jade, malachite, and, the most popular and commercially sought after of them all – the diamond. Each of these is an embodiment of protective, unique, and spiritual healing properties. There are many resources in the ethos that can provide details of each. With the characteristics that they possess, it is no wonder that the traditional penchant for people to wear these gorgeous and symbolic pieces will continue through to the next generations and further generations to come.

I know I rarely ever take off my amethyst, ruby (my birthstone), tiger’s eye, quartz, aventurine, selenite, and tourmaline. They come in different jewelry pieces (necklaces and bracelets) and pure uncut stones I carry in my pocket. Now, please know that some stones can amplify others like quartz does while some may counteract another, so it is important to know what properties the stones have so you know how to wear them, place them in your feng shui rituals, in your sacred spaces, or just in general. If stones are of interest to you, it is best to find a book or advisor to help you select the best stones for your activities and needs, and how to properly use and maiintenance them. Also, please keep in mind that crystals and stones are living things. They all hold natural power imbued by Mother Nature. Respect the stones and Gaia, above all! Do this and they will serve you powerfully and eternally as any living thing will do.

The phenomenon of a worker who has already been in the workforce for 40-plus years suddenly starting a new career at 60 or older is a trend that has been growing exponentially as baby boomers hit and surpassed thie age bracket, and my own generation starts creeping up to this age bracket ourselves. There has always been a phenomenon of older workers trying something new but the trend had hit such a steep high in the baby boomer retirement picture over the past couple decades. So you have to wonder what about the boomers and Gen X makes them and us to want to start new careers so late in life.

Part of it has to do with the way business has functioned in the last few decades. In our parents’ working years, the norm was to work for the same company and be a “company man” for 40-50 years, get that gold watch and retire with a handsome retirement package. That formula just doesn’t work, or exist below the C-suite, anymore.

For one thing, retirement plans supported by employers have become a thing of the past. There’s plenty of funds matching and other options employers offer in their benefits, but its fickle and can end if the company changes, merges, etc. Savings for retirement have plummeted as the financial demands of life are all most people can keep up with. So the concept of working on into what used to be called retirement years is now a given if for no other reason than financial necessity and a shit country who disregards the aged.

The model I just laid out of employees staying with the same company for their entire adult lives is simply no longer feasible or a reality for all but a few in the modern workforce. Most boomers have worked for dozens of companies in their adult lives so their retirement packages, if they exist at all, are small. Part of this can be attributed to the entrepreneurial spirit of baby boomers. But, there has been a discernable shift in the way American business works as well. Companies don’t like the idea of keeping employees that long. Add to that the fact that so many companies have gone out of business, been absorbed in huge corporate buyouts, or undergone drastic downsizing that by the time most boomers hit their 50s and 60s, the idea of keeping one single career moving forward is pretty hard to sustain.

But, these negative explanations are not all there is to why baby boomers are starting over this late in life. Boomers never did accept that the rules of life or aging applied to them. They are ambitious, adventurous, and willing to strike on new paths with much less fear than previous generations. As boomers have faced some of the challenges of the economy, social upheavals, and the modern business world, they have responded aggressively by starting businesses or changing their careers entirely later in life. And they are just as willing to pay their dues and stick with that new career until they are as successful as they were when they were 30.

Many workers find a line of work and learn they can pay the bills and raise the kids early in life but they do not follow their dream career at that time. So when the time in life comes that the kids are out of the nest, the house is paid off, and the adventure of living has settled down (somewhat), many baby boomers see that as the chance to finally throw out that boring old career and go after their dream career once and for all. The same career change and entrepreneurial light shines on my Gen X.

It’s inspirational to see someone in that stage of life setting the standard in not settling for anything less than realizing their dream by launching a new career, doing what they’ve always wanted to do – no matter their age. Who can fault boomers from wanting that kind of gratification in finding joy and success in a career that fulfills their passions? So, Jah bless the late in life boomers who go for the brass ring in their golden years. They will be an inspiration for many coming behind them, like myself and close colleagues, to be as bold about our/their lives as well. This is a more positive way to look at the fact that all of us are struggling and boomers work because they have to, unlike in most other countries who hold the aged in higher regard than we do here in the US. The children and the aged are taken care of first. Sad, but disgustingly true for the US of Asshats. We throw away people that have outserved their usefulness, but we can carefully handle and million-dollar Lloyd’s insure hair, a voice, or someone’s ass. True shit, literally and figuratively.

Happy retirement, folks…at 80, 90 years old! Try not to die the next day.

There is and has been in recent decades a bit of a sensational stir about the Akashic records, as if it’s new. You’ll find that a lot of people are being drawn into Akashic records as a way for them to heal, but to also help one find their path. You’ll also find that a lot of people use the knowledge in order to feel safe and secure about their future. They additionally find that these practices are almost a remedy for anxious feelings that almost everyone has in some capacity in their lives.

When you take a look at your Akashic record you’ll be able to achieve a lot of your and your soul’s goals. People don’t want to wait to see what their future holds, but they are now more than eager to learn more and new things about themselves on a deeper level. The pandemic has changed people the world over in this way. I’d want to change too if I was stuck at home facing any and all internal ugliness for a year and a half.

Most people are unable to get in touch with their own Akashic record so they do end up having a reader come in and help them. They will help read the signs, but they will also help translate a lot of the information that is left unnoticed. You’ll want to keep in mind that the Akashic reader will help you to release negative energy and also it will help you to embrace positive energy. This will help you get rid of some of the obstacles that you have and obstacles that prohibit you from growing. This is a deep healing process among many other types of spiritual modalities. So, this will come with facing pain and truths about that pain. Kind of in the same way I help people by shattering their rose-colored glasses or their fake/false mirror people put up with a false image showing so they don’t have to look at themselves in the eye or at the internal ugliness and trauma. That said, this will not be something for everyone, and this is not a starting point, unless specifically prescribed by a shaman, special healer, or otherwise because it will take you places you may not be ready to go or fully understand at the amateur stage. The biggest understanding here is to know that this is not some book you sign out of your local library by a card in the back of it and the honor system. There are only certain people that can do this, and there needs to be a level of trust and security there when working with them because of the areas they can tap in to and even bring you to/through – a helping hand or saboteur, they can be. It is up to you to do your research on what this is and how to find the right individual to perform this ancient esoteric tradition, as with anything otherworldly and preternatural.

It all depends on the person and their esoteric knowledge, but you should be able to access all the information in a trance-like state, sometimes through your normal method of meditation but allowing yourself to go further beyond that comfort zone. You’ll be able to channel a lot of information at this subconscious level, and you’ll be able to get to the deep hidden truths, seen and unseen. These records will help you to understand the person you used to be, the person that you are growing into, and the person you need to be for your place here in this humanity. Explore every part of yourself in every way. Leave no stone unturned, opposite what we’ve been trained to do for too long.

*This is a deep process. Not everyone can handle this their first time out. I suggest wading in the deeper waters of mental and spiritual healing and wellness before jumping into the sea or what’s beyond this plane of existence.

Shall we break-up? Am I right? Or is my thinking wrong somewhere? What if I hurt my partner with the break-up? How will I feel? What if I cannot live normally after the breakup? Shall I recover from it? Should I break up or should I wait for them to do it? I am having doubts about the reasons. I am doubtful about the consequences. I am confused. What shall I do?

After life reaches a stage where living together becomes very painful, one begins thinking of a breakup or separation. But the doubts can be overwhelming at times. They can mar the judgment. They can confuse the thinking process. This makes life further troublesome. What is the way out?

The first step should be giving your mind rest. A tense mind tends to lose the way more easily. Relax and let go of these thoughts for a few days. Involve yourself in other activities. Relaxing your mind will give you some peace and help you think clearly and unencumbered with heavy feelings associated with doubts. After you begin feeling peaceful, begin writing down your reasons for breaking up. Don’t miss anything. Write down all the reasons clearly and provide explanations wherever needed. This will give you further insight into why you want to break up.

Pros and cons, writing down both. Read them carefully and weigh them. If necessary, consult a close friend. After you become sure that you must break up and that it will be in your best interest and in the courteous interest of your partner, go ahead. People grow apart and energies are in constant flux and change, so one person shouldn’t feel ‘stuck’. It serves no purpose to those inside the situation. Talk things out, be honest about how you feel, and separate amicably. We know reality isn’t this smooth when dealing with people, so this is a general outlook. This process can also be used to determine the end or usefulness of a friendship, long or short term. Not everyone is meant to stay on your journey. Whatever your decision, leave anger and pettiness out of it. So, take this as you will, but I truly hope it helps.

Descartes has been called as the first modern philosopher on top of introducing his high-brain math theories. He is renowned for making an important connection between geometry and algebra that brought about the solutions to geometrical problems by way of algebraic equations. He is also famous for promoting a new concept of matter which allowed for the accounting of physical phenomena by way of mechanical explanations. However, he is the most famous for writing a relatively short work, Meditationes de Prima Philosophia (Meditations on First Philosophy), in which the Existence of God and the Distinction between Mind and Body are demonstrated. This was published in 1641 and provided a philosophical groundwork for the possibility of sciences.

Today, his Meditations is by far Descartes’s most popular work, though this would not have been the case in Descartes’s time. Descartes’s Meditations opens by developing skeptical questions concerning the possibility of knowledge. Through a series of several carefully thought-out meditations, six meditations to be exact, the reader establishes groundwork for the possibility of knowledge (scientia). His work uses skepticism as a vehicle to motivate his reader to discover by way of philosophical investigation of what constitutes this ground.

Descartes’s Meditations was dedicated to the faculty of the Sorbonne, which was the divinity school of the University of Paris. Descartes was a devout Catholic and had no desire to offend the Church, though he certainly hoped to make a contribution to its understanding. There are two driving issues behind Descartes’s Meditations: proving the existence of God and the immortality of the soul through natural reason. Thought processes that have long been challenged, cancelling each other, or, otherwise, kept separate. Here are some samples of Descartes Meditations I and II:

Descartes Meditation 1 – OF THE THINGS OF WHICH WE MAY DOUBT*

1. SEVERAL years have now elapsed since I first became aware that I had accepted, even from my youth, many false opinions for true, and that consequently what I afterward based on such principles was highly doubtful. From that time I was convinced of the necessity of undertaking once in my life to rid myself of all the opinions I had adopted, and of commencing anew the work of building from the foundation, if I desired to establish a firm and abiding superstructure in the sciences. But as this enterprise appeared to me to be of great magnitude, I waited until I had attained an age so mature as to leave me no hope that at any advanced stage of life, I should better be able to execute my design. On this account, I have delayed so long that I should henceforth consider I was doing wrong were I still to consume in deliberation any of the time that now remains for action. To-day, then, since I have expediently freed my mind from all cares [and am happily disturbed by no passions], and since I am in the secure possession of leisure in a peaceable retirement, I will at length apply myself earnestly and freely to the general overthrow of all my former opinions.

This is just one of the twelve paragraphs that’s in Descartes Meditations I, which is all about Descartes establishing his ideas about the world in which he can doubt their truth.

Descartes Meditation 2 – OF THE NATURE OF THE HUMAN MIND; AND THAT IT IS MORE EASILY KNOWN THAN THE BODY.

1. The Meditation of yesterday has filled my mind with so many doubts, that it is no longer in my power to forget them. Nor do I see, meanwhile, any principle on which they can be resolved; and, just as if I had fallen all of a sudden into very deep water, I am so greatly disconcerted as to be unable either to plant my feet firmly on the bottom or sustain myself by swimming on the surface. I will, nevertheless, make an effort, and try anew the same path on which I had entered yesterday. That is, proceed by casting aside all that admits of the slightest doubt, not less than if I had discovered it to be absolutely false; and I will continue always in this track until I shall find something that is certain, or at least, if I can do nothing more, until I shall know with certainty that there is nothing certain. Archimedes, that he might transport the entire globe from the place it occupied to another, demanded only a point that was firm and immovable; so, also, I shall be entitled to entertain the highest expectations, if I am fortunate enough to discover only one thing that is certain and indubitable.

This is just one of the sixteen paragraphs in Descartes Meditation 2 where he lays out a pattern of thought (sometimes called representationalism) in response to the doubts forwarded in Meditation 1. He argues that this representational theory disconnects the world from the mind, leading to the need for some sort of bridge to span the separation and provide good reasons that the ideas accurately represent the outside world. In simple terms, critical thinking should be the norm, though some stuggle with activating their own intelligence. We should question everything. It is how we learn.

Descartes Meditations I, II, III, IV, V, and VI, are writings that discards all his beliefs in things which are not absolutely certain, and then he tries to establish what can be known for sure. Religion or science; both or neither? What is it to you?

Stop pretending it’s cute

Let me be perfectly clear: grandiosity isn’t confidence. It’s a flare-up of ego dressed in delusion. When someone thinks the world revolves around them, every little setback becomes a national emergency. They don’t disagree, they declare war. They don’t lose, you robbed them. They don’t apologize, you’re the one who “overreacts.” That’s the energy of grandiosity, and it breeds one thing faster than anything else: anger.

People who live in that space don’t handle stress, they erupt. They punch holes in conversations, tear apart reputations, and weaponize any slight into justification for verbal or physical assault. I’m not being dramatic. I’m being realistic. This isn’t personality quirks. This is a pattern that escalates if left unchecked, and it ruins lives: their own and everyone unlucky enough to be nearby.

Grandiosity and mental illness: sometimes they overlap

Yes, some psychiatric conditions include grandiose thinking as a feature. Narcissistic traits, certain personality disorders, and some psychotic conditions can look wildly similar on the surface. That doesn’t mean everyone who acts like a tyrant is “mentally ill,” and it also doesn’t mean we excuse violent, cruel, or abusive behavior because of a diagnosis. If someone’s brain wiring includes deep-seated grandiosity — especially when it’s genetic or hardened by years of denial. Standard “anger management” alone often won’t cut it. You need deeper intervention: honest therapy, consistent structure, and, sometimes, medication and long-term psychiatric care.

But here’s another truth: whether clinical or not, if you combine grandiosity with unchecked rage, you’re one bad day away from doing something indefensible. That’s the track record. Slurs. Assaults. Emotional homicide. Real people get hurt. Real families get shattered. So stop normalizing it.

The remorse test — do they actually feel it?

One big dividing line: remorse. Normal people blow up sometimes and immediately feel shame and regret because they still have empathy and a conscience. Folks entrenched in grandiosity often don’t. If the apology is a performance, if remorse is missing or token, your odds of meaningful change are slim, and staying in that orbit will bankrupt your soul.

If you ever find yourself thinking, “they’ll change,” check the remorse box. If it’s empty, don’t make an argument with fate. Remove yourself.

How this looks in the wild (so you can stop lying to yourself)

A spouse gets accused of cheating and flies off the handle like a judge, jury, and executioner. Result: more chaos, possibly physical escalation, definitely emotional damage.

A co-worker is given feedback and responds like it’s career termination. Public screaming, sabotaging the team, then acting like you created the toxicity.

A parent or partner uses insults and manipulation to “win” because vulnerability terrifies them.

If that’s your pattern, stop performing. If that’s someone in your life, do not confuse charm or contrition between explosions for real change.

Real options when grandiosity and rage show up

If you’re the one with the problem: own it. Get real help. Not an Instagram detox or a “self-help” reel. Actual work with a clinician or therapist of any kind who calls out your bullshit and sits with you in the hard corners. Medication when needed. Long-term therapy. Daily accountability. Structure. Boundaries you practice and respect. You will have to swallow your ego, and it will taste like failure at first. That’s the medicine.

If you’re on the receiving end: protect yourself. Here’s an adult checklist:

Don’t provoke. Meet issues with cold clarity, not theatrics. Ask questions; demand facts.

Document. Keep receipts — texts, emails, witnesses. Your memory is not a ghost. Evidence is power.

Set limits. Say what you will and won’t accept, and stick to it. If they rage, remove yourself. If it’s physical or threatening, call the damn police and get legal counsel.

Decide: forgive or leave. If infidelity or betrayal is the issue you discovered, forgiveness isn’t a public debate. It’s a chosen path with conditions. If you forgive, you stop litigating it forever. If you don’t trust them, don’t stay pretending you do. Divorce and legal separation are not moral failures — they’re safety tools.

Include family and longtime friends. Most people feel obligated to accept and deal with toxicity from these people because of social beliefs and longevity should be held at a priceless value. Well, the obligation is to yourself first and the heavy cost of maintaining these relationships is your peace and sanity. But they can get the axe, too. Fuck anyone who disagrees. No one is exempt from acting like an adult and respecting your boundaries and relationship needs with those people. And, no one is above being divorced if they compromise your peace and sanity.

Forgiveness isn’t weakness. Repetition is.

If you stay after betrayal, it better be because you truly forgave. Not because you’re scared to be alone, or broke, or addicted to the drama. Forgiveness means you don’t reopen the wound every time life gets tense. You’ve moved past it — or you’re gone.

Prevention: build your character so rage can’t hijack it

We don’t live in some therapy utopia. We live in a messy world where people are broken. But you can still do better. If you want fewer explosions in your life, practice this:

Self-awareness: Name your triggers before they name you.

Pause training: Learn to wait five minutes before responding. The five-minute rule saves marriages, jobs, and reputations.

Accountability partners: Someone who tells you the truth and doesn’t let you gaslight them.

Anger tools: Not suppression — regulation. Breathing, grounding, timeout, and real talk after everyone’s cool.

Work the root: Therapy that digs past symptoms to why you lash out. Most people are just slapping bandages on bullet wounds.

If you’re riding the grandiosity train, know this: it ends badly

I’m not trying to humiliate you. I’m trying to save you. People who keep doubling down on their ego end up lonely, bankrupt, dead, or in prison. That’s the arc. It’s not dramatic prophecy. It’s pattern. If you can’t see it, get a mirror that’s not afraid to tell the truth.

Closing: love is fierce, not soft

Anger itself isn’t evil. Anger is data. It tells you what matters. The difference between a civilized human and a caveman is the ability to translate anger into repair, instead of destruction. If your anger doesn’t repair, it destroys. Destruction is not legacy, it’s obituary copy.

Control your rage before it controls your life. If you can’t do it on your own, get help. If someone else can’t control theirs, protect yourself and your people. We don’t have infinite do-overs, nor do we have time to wait for people to reach their highest ‘potential’ believing they’ll change. Grow tf up. Get honest. Do the work.

The problem lies in dealing with it so that it does not get the best of you or hurt someone else. For example, if you are married and suspect that your spouse is having an affair, you might confront this person rather than accusing. You’ll find out the details before you blow up and cause a commotion. If the person is cheating, then you have two options. Either you forgive the person’s infidelity and move on with them, or you hire a damn good lawyer then find a more suitable, trusting replacement.

Personally, I’d choose the latter since cheaters are liars and they are trying to get away with it, obvs. We want to give people the full benefit of doubt but as you have likely experienced with this season of humanity, people very rarely change for the better…until they put in their own work. If you forgive them this time, who’s to say they won’t be of the mind where they believe you’ll forgive them again…and again and again? Secondly, was this a person you vibrated in when you were vibrating low and they are just reflecting that low-quality person back to you from your low-quality time? All that said, therefore, these people are not trustworthy anymore. See the reasoning behind this?

Of course, it’s going to hurt, but in the end, you will see that you made a good choice letting go of toxicity. If you decide to stay with the person, remember that you forgave them. So, don’t bring up the same failures when another problem arises separately from that failure. Failure is success flipped over, and if you review failure in a positive light, your problems will turn to the cooler side of the pillow as you move forward in wisdom. If you have a grandiose personality, you will need help, since the mountains are more difficult for you to climb. So, don’t be a failure; control your anger before it controls you and your life.

Want the blunt road map for change? Book time with me, pull your ego out of the passenger seat, and let’s build a life where your power doesn’t get used as an assault weapon. I will always tell you your truth, even when no one else will or don’t see it for you. There are some supports that will work to keep you exactly the way you are. Divorce them, too.
